I was on Etsy earlier this week looking for some sleeves. I have been wanting some lately, so I figured I would give my favorite site a try. I found this wonderful pair from thoughtfulstitches. They are made by cutting the sleeves off of an old sweater. So cute!

Seeing these sleeves made me think about making my own. So, I sat down and got to work. Here is what I came up with.

I love all things yarn, so I am often on Etsy looking for cute and unique items. This is what I ran into this week.
I fell in love with the leg warmers made by Grace and Lace Co. I found two pair over there that I HAVE to have.

I have a twitter friend who sells on Etsy. I saw her work and loved it so much that I ordered a cowl from her. Make sure you check her out. CrochetbyYJ.

I was cruising moo.com looking for business card and logo sticker information, and I stumbled across information for Kouture Crochet. I love the way she packages her items. She sells crocheted ties, scarves, and blankets.

A Place to Rest My Head

I have been talking about this headboard for a while, and I finally made it! Joann’s had a sale on foam, 50% off! The regular price is $30 a yard, and I used two yards for this project.

I ordered the fabric from Etsy and I got the plywood from Home Depot. I started the process by cutting the foam to size and placing it on the plywood to make sure the size was correct.

Once all the measurements were good I placed the batting on the floor, then put the foam on that and the plywood on top. Then I stapled the batting to the plywood.

At this point I laid out my fabric and centered the batting wrapped plywood on it and stapled the fabric to the plywood. Here is the final piece!

Those are the lyrics from one of my favorite tv shows as a kid…Reading Rainbow. I was 11 years old when the show started, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I have been reading since I was 4 years old, and books have always been magical to me. I felt like they transported me to places that I might never see. I could get lost in a book for hours.

When the whole e-reader craze started I vowed that I would NEVER jump on the bandwagon. I love the feel of books in my hand too much to read on an e-reader. But, here I am!

I purchased a Nook Tablet this weekend, and I must say that I love it! I know that it could never replace the feel of holding a book, but I think it works when I travel and things of that nature. I am going on a cruise for my 40th birthday, so I can have my books with me to read.

I love the fact that I can search the web, read my blog, listen to Pandora, all without taking out my MacBook!

In the photo above is my Nook and the journal that I won in a contest on Oprah’s website. So, I have started journaling again thanks to Oprah.

Do you have an e-reader or do you prefer to read a regular book?

A Home For My Jewelry

I do not have much jewelry, but I knew that I wanted to display it instead of hide it away in a box. I am more apt to use what I can see before me.

When I first moved into my apartment I bought a cork board and wrapped it with fabric and hung my jewelry on that.

It served the purpose for a while, but I knew I would seek other alternative methods. I went to Hobby Lobby this past weekend and picked up two 11×14 shadow boxes and got down to work.

I used push pins to hang the jewelry and I am in love with how it looks in the room. The shadow boxes have doors which makes it easy for me to access my jewelry. Now that the shadow boxes are up I see that I need more jewelry.

The Shop is Almost Ready

I have been making bracelets and setting up shop. The shop will be open for business within the next two weeks! I am do excited. You can find the shop here.

From A to Z

As I am preparing my apartment for Urban Nights, I am looking around to see what needs to be done and/or changed. I have this huge wall space over the kitchen cabinets and I have been thinking about what I can put up there. I don’t want anything really big because I have items on the other walls. I just want something to take away the empty feeling.

There is more space than what is shown in the picture. So, I have been noticing that a lot of people have “EAT” signs in their kitchens and I really like the look. My plan is to find some decent sized letters and place them up there. Here are some of the photos that I have found.

My next goal is to decent on the color of the letters. I will get back to you all in that one.

Love Lives Cozy Here

Back in October I ordered a handmade table for my entryway from Etsy. I knew that I would want something to go on the table, so I started a search for a piece of art. I came across the Etsy shop of Grace Hester Designs and fell in love with a typographic piece that she was selling.

I bought the piece and it has taken me this long to buy a frame for me. No real excuse, just sheer laziness.

Now that it is framed I can cross it off my list on move on to other projects. Here is a photo of it.

Bling for Your Wrist

Lately I have been noticing the bracelets that folks have been making and decided to give it a try. I went to Hobby Lobby and Joann’s and picked up all the necessary items and got to work. I was very surprised at how easy they are to make, and must say that I am somewhat addicted to it. *Don’t judge me*.

I plan to open up an Etsy shop soon and hope that you all will support me in this endeavor! Here are some pics of what I have made so far.

Time For A Spot of Tea

I bought a tray from West Elm to make a bottle cap tray that I found here. I have been spray painting the bottle caps that my friend Brandi sent to me, but I ran out of spray primer. I plan to replace the primer this weekend, but I wanted to jazz up the tray a little while I continue to spray the caps.

I decided to use a piece of 12×12 scrapbook paper to do the jazzin’ up of the tray. Here is a picture of the tray and the paper. The tray was originally $22, but I got it on sale for $15.

Here are the items that will find their home in the tray. My Ikea tea kettle and my creamer and sugar dish from Crate and Barrel.

The inside of the tray was a little smaller than the scrapbook paper, so I just cut it down a little, and voila!

Here is a photo of everything in place. I like it, but I am very excited to get the bottle caps done.
