Furniture transformations…

14 Nov

If you know anything about me, you know that I am a lover of all things IKEA. When I lived in New Jersey I used to visit the Elizabeth store at least 2 or 3 times a week. I love walking through the store and seeing all the decorating possibilities. I don’t visit the Cincinnati store as much as I did the Elizabeth one, but my love for all things IKEA hasn’t change.  I stumbled across a Ikeahacker ‘s blog and another door of possibilities was opened to me. Here are a few of my faves.

This IKEA Expedit shelving unit

was turned into this mini bar! Isn’t it awesome?!!!

I found ChicLittleHouse by visiting another blog, and I instantly fell in love. This blog tells the story of  the journey of a family to turn a 1956 Rancher into a Chic Little House they can call home. I have found so many decorating ideas from visiting Mrs. CLH’s blog. If you are looking for decor ideas, swing by. Here are a couple of transformations that she has done that I love.

She has transformed a vintage chair and bench from trash to treasure. Here is the before of the vintage chair.

Here is the after…

Here is the vintage bench before…

Add a little paint and some new fabric and it’s ready to be showcased in her bedroom…

She turned a Crate and Barrel placemat into a throw pillow. I NEVER would have thought to do this, but you can believe that I plan to try it. :-)

Here is a before of the placemat…

And here it is as a pillow…

What transformations have you made in your apartment or home? What transformations are you thinking about making? I would love to hear from you.

Peace and Blessings!

I wish I had an eye for transformations, I usually just take things as they are. However when I find an amazing scarf, you know the really big ones, ill sew it as a cover for a throw pillow or for one of my sleeping pillows. One day ill turn a shelving unit into a bar, lord knows I need one ;)

Hey there! There are times when I don’t think I have an eye for transforming things either, but I think it’s there. we just have to dig deep. The biggest thing I have to remember when I see something I like but in the wrong color is that I can always paint it.
I love what you came up with for the scarves! great transformation! that bar is hot!

Wow! I just love all the furniture transformations. Great changes on the wood chairs and most especially the shelving unit. Keep it up!
